What is RemoteApps?

HKMU RemoteApps run on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technology. It allows HKMU staff to run specific software on their desktop computers without needing to install the software. In such a way, HKMU staff can access to these applications anywhere in the campus via the university network. For some applications, secure access outside campus has already been made.

How to Connect HKMU RemoteApps?

RemoteApps can be accessed from MS Windows 7 or above using a Web browser. It supports Internet Explorer.

  • Logon using your staff username and password
  • Select the program you want to use
  • Click Connect
  • If you are using other web browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge or Firefox),
    • you will download a file, open it and click Connect
    • you will be asked for another logon
    • enter your staff username with domain (i.e.  username@staffdmn ) and password again

Guidelines of Use

  • DO NOT SAVE files on REMOTE computer. All user files will be cleaned up when disconnected.
  • SAVE your file to your LOCAL
    computer regularly!
  • RemoteApps session will disconnect after idle for 2 hours.
  • LOGOUT / CLOSE RemoteApps session after use to release the session to other users

How to Save & Print file from RemoteApps?

The drives of your local computer will be displayed as "C on your computer name" or "D on your computer name".  You should save file there. 

The default printer of your local computer is automatically selected
